Styria, the green heart of Austria

Styria is the second largest province of Austria, which is also called the green heart of Austria due to its enormous forests. The region has really a lot of colors. The northern part is mostly all high steep mountains. In the middle of the province are average height slopes with huge forests and among green fields and grey rocks many, crystal clear little streams run through. On the south the climate is pleasantly warm and with the slope hills, the combination of untouched nature meets the romantic atmosphere of the wine country.

Styria, an attractive tourist destination in winter and summer

The province is wonderful in every season. In Styria, you'll find all the attractions of Austria in one province. Between the Dachstein glacier and the wonderful scenery of the wine region, there is full of lovely scenic spots and many cultural treasures.

In summer the mountains provide great opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, for motorcycle tours, the lakes are perfect for swimming, fishing, diving. In winter there are countless opportunities, since Styria is one of the most diverse winter sport regions of the country. The peaks and glaciers of the Alps are perfect for skiing, snowboarding, ski running, sleighing. The hot water spas springs wait the visitors all year long.

Gastronomic pleasures

Styria's richness lies in its variety: cattle farming in alpine pasture in the North, agriculture and the mild climate of the South, the Hungarian influence in the East, an abundance of water, volcanic soils, etc., the perfect conditions for a rich supply for kitchen and cellar. And these treasures are put to use.

Styrians are not only envied for their pumpkin seed oil, which is sold outside the province at exclusive prices in delicatessens, or indeed their unrivaled wines. Whether pumpkin in all shapes and forms, sun-ripened apples, cured ham, handmade chocolates, vinegar in barrels and elegant liqueurs such as schnapps: Styria is the pantry of Austria.

The Apple route, Wine route, Flower route and Castle route entice visitors through the South.

Landscape, nature, wellness and recreational ideas combined with hospitality leave guests refreshed and relaxed at all times.
